Indie Films

Indie Films:

In this section I have looked at the Indie film industry. I have look into what n Indie film is and what kind of issues could be addressed. As well as this, I have looked into both the Sundance and the Raindance Film Festivals ad provided some examples of Indie Film posters. I believe that this is beneficial as my poster looks very Indie and I think it will b a good idea to pursue this kind of idea. This also helps me to identify different types of film within the industry and how each of them are important in their own way.

Teaser Posters for The Invisible Final

Teaser Posters

In this section I will be showing the teaser posters that I have created for my short film. They show each of the lead characters within the film. This is due to them having the most impact within the film. As well as this, the story revolves around them therefore it makes more sense to do it for just the main characters rather than all of them.

 Ahri

This is my first teaser poster that was created. My actor posed in order to capture a certain feeling. By looking down she can create a sad and lonely look. This helps to portray her character as being a shy girl who doesn't socialise much with her friends. This will help the audience to gain a deeper insight into the character of Ahri.

 Roxanne

This is my second teaser posted which was created for the character of Roxanne. Roxanne is an outgoing and fun girl and her abusing her boyfriend is a secret. This is incorporated into the teaser poster as she is looking and smiling at something but yet no one would notice or even know that this character was an abusive girlfriend. This means that when the audience finds out then they will be more shocked about the nature of this character.

Location Shots

Location shots:

In this section I will be looking into my location shots and describing what they are when they are used and in some cases how this helps to influence the story line.

Act 1 Scene 1:

These are my two location shots for my first act and my first scene. It will be during the day and will take place outside in the garden area. This is where we are first introduced to our main characters of Roxanne and Dean. Shortly afterwards we are introduced to our third main character of Ahri. This helps show the relationships between the characters. I also chose this scene as it is a nice and open space for the characters to be presented in.

Act 2 Scene 1:

This is my location for my second act and my first scene. This is where we will be introduced to the character of Billy who influences the drama that will arise between Dean, Roxanne and Ahri. This will take place during their study period so the mood will be relaxed. This also gives us plenty of space for Ahri to rein act the falling scene. Filming within the common room also helps to make the short film more professional as well as the background noise making it appear more natural.

Act 2 Scene 2:

This is where my second scene of act 2 will be filmed. This is a great place to record as no-one will be there to interfere and it also helps to portray the loneliness of our lead actor Dean and his emptiness due to his girlfriend abusing him. This location has also got a lot of natural light therefore meaning it is a great place to record in order to film a perfect shot.

Act 3 Scene 1:

These are all the possible locations for my third act. These will provide us with the perfect location to rein act our book fair fundraising scene. This will also give us enough space to act out the anger scene as Ahri and Dean have plenty of places to hide as well as Roxanne places to look.

Act 3 Scene 2:

The last scene will feature them leaving the library and re-entering the scene where we first got introduced to them. This helps the audience to understand that Ahri was only trying to help him all along. As well as this, It also provides a nice shot of them walking off together that can be used as a ending for our film to show that equilibrium has been achieved.

Teaser Poster

The First Draft

For my teaser, I wanted to create something that was mysterious. I wanted it to have an element of secrecy or something that was 'almost hidden'. The inspiration behind my poster was Allegiant teaser poster. I thought this was a great idea and fit out story extremely well. The idea of having something being blurred in an attempt to hide whatever is beneath it. For my first draft there are a few errors I made. This is spelling as well as colour error. I used a white colour and this wasn't very impacting and you couldn't see it from very faraway therefore it needed to be changed. As well as this the '#Invisible' was extremely dark. I also thought that having a date on the teaser poster gave to much information away therefore this and the spelling of cinemas needed to be addressed.

The Second Draft
For my second draft I changed the colouring to make it more visible and eye catching. This was successful and grabs attention quickly. I also changed the date to 'coming soon 2016' to create a sense of mystery. I also added the slogan 'It's time to see things more clearly' as it is almost like the blur is hiding something important and it needs to be exposed or sorted. This helps represent the main reason for our short film and also helps to further portray the fact relationship abuse is not spoken up about often enough. I also changed the Facebook and Twitter signs to that they fit into my poster easier and give it a more professional look.

The Script Development

The Script Development

I first wrote the script and after I had finished doing so gave it to my fellow peers to assess. I then got this back and mad the modifications and gave it to an external person to look over and give feedback. From this, we have created a script that we believe will tell our story well. Below is the scripts.

Short Film Contract

Awareness Productions Contract

I created a legal document in order to efficiently organise the crew and members of the film. This contract states the requirements needed of the crew members as well as cast and what is needed for them to be graded successfully. There will be a peer assessed sheet for everyone to fill out which will also affect the overall grade that we achieve.

This is what would have been asked for in the industry therefore it is good practise to do it now. As well as this, it makes our short film appear more professional.

The Rain Horse Short Film Analysis

This is a analysis of a short film 'The Rain Horse' by Sebastian Godwin.

I watched this short film and created a small presentation on its story line, crew and cast as well as some of the places it was screened and my own interpretation of what the rain horse symbolised.
